Take Another Look is driven by the conviction that Jesus Christ and Christian faith are not well understood in New Zealand. A century ago it was observed that people found Christianity too difficult to want to consider it; today it is more likely that is it simply unknown. People are more familiar with odd portrayals in popular culture and scandals that emerge through the news. Religion in general is sidelined as irrelevant and unimportant — disadvantaging New Zealanders from the opportunity to see what it is about.

Take Another Look is an online initiative aiming to do two things: The first is to clarify Christianity in the face of misunderstandings and misrepresentations. The second is to commend Jesus Christ as worthy of our attention, devotion, and our lives.
This website aims to clarify and commend through education. Christ and Christianity are difficult to commit to because they require us to learn to understand them. On top of this, they regularly stand in tension with many habits and beliefs in New Zealand, and challenge us at a personal and practical level too.
This site provides a simple but substantial introduction to Christian faith and practice, together with more in-depth pieces exploring specific topics. So, please take a look. Whether it is your first look or a new look at Christ and Christianity, do aim to have a clear look at who he is, what he has done, and what he asks of us.

“The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult; and left untried.”
G. K. Chesterton, 1910
